The story of friendship behind the Philosophy Australia x denu collaboration

“The most beautiful things are not just seen, they are experienced”

Some collaborations begin with a strategy meeting. Ours began with a friendship.

Sarah and I met through the Women's Champions Awards in 2024, where we were both recognised for businesses built with passion, perseverance and a genuine love of what we do. What started as following each other on social media quickly became something much more meaningful. We found ourselves celebrating each other's wins, sharing ideas, swapping encouragement and quietly championing one another from the sidelines.

There is something special about meeting another woman who understands the reality of building a business. The long days, the constant problem solving, the excitement of a new idea and the privilege of watching customers fall in love with something you've created. As product-based business owners, we both understand what it takes to bring an idea to life, from concept and creation through to production, inventory and getting it into customers' hands. You recognise the same care, the same determination and the same heart.

We simply became each other's biggest supporters.

Then one morning Sarah sent me a message saying she had been thinking about me in the shower! (It didn’t occur to me that could sound strange) She was using one of denu's beautiful botanical products and wondered whether fragrance and fashion could tell the same story, knowing that we share similar customer profiles.

I've always believed clothing should make you feel something. It should move with you, become part of your everyday, inspire confidence and earn its place in your wardrobe. Sarah believes the same about fragrance. It has the power to create rituals, evoke memories and bring a little beauty to the ordinary. We both often talk about creating an elevated experience, and this collection became the perfect expression of that shared ‘philosophy’.

As someone who rarely thinks small, I immediately saw the possibilities. What followed became so much more than a collaboration. It became a celebration of everything we both value and will be the launch pad of an ongoing collaboration.

Creating with intention, choosing quality over quantity, supporting Australian made and finding beauty and joy in the everyday.

To bring the vision to life, we commissioned Sydney artist Rosie Hawkswell to create an original artwork print that would become the heart of the collection. Rosie has an incredible ability to capture the emotion of nature rather than simply illustrate it, creating pieces that feel expressive, instinctive and deeply connected to place. Together we explored Australian botanicals through a more unexpected lens.

Rather than relying on familiar Waratahs and gum leaves, Rosie drew inspiration from native species long treasured as bush tucker, spices, medicinal plants and aromatics. The result is distinctly Australian, yet wonderfully refined, balancing organic movement with timeless elegance.

The palette wanders through deep rainforest greens, before flashes of coral and red from the Cape York lily breaking through the canopy. Every glance reveals another layer, another detail, another reason to fall in love with it.Those same botanicals inspired denu to create Reflect, a bespoke fragrance designed to allow scent and style to become part of the same story.

Reflect carries the same quiet confidence, feminine power and composure seen in Rosie’s print. It is not overly sweet or delicate. It has fresh calm, soft floral warmth and a quiet strength that mirrors the depth of the design.

Created with pure essential oils of lavender and ylang ylang, Reflect draws on the power of aromatherapy to support mood and emotion. Lavender is known for its calming qualities, helping clear the mind and steady the senses. Ylang ylang brings a soft floral warmth, encouraging feelings of comfort, confidence and connection while adding depth, composure and feminine strength.

As with all natural essential oil scents, Reflect is designed to be experienced as a ritual rather than an overpowering fragrance. The perfume can be worn softly on the skin, carried with you and reapplied throughout the day as desired.

Reflect was not created to be a scent for everyone. It was created with intention, depth and a clear point of view.

The fragrance, like the fabric, celebrates femininity, strength, care and detail. It honours local design, local manufacturing and the quiet confidence that comes from knowing exactly what you stand for.

A clothing capsule of timeless 100% silk pieces designed to be mixed, matched and treasured completes the collection. A Classic Shirt, Wide Leg Pant, Bias Maxi Skirt and Draped Neck Top sit alongside a versatile Kimono, silk scarves, eye masks and hair accessories, each created to make full use of the fabric and honour a ‘philosophy’ of thoughtful production and minimal waste.

  • Every garment is proudly made in Australia in luxurious silk.
  • Every fragrance piece is crafted locally from natural botanicals.

It is about women supporting women and discovering that shared values can become something tangible and beautiful, knowing our customer profiles align. It is about products that tell a story, celebrate craftsmanship and make an ordinary day feel just a little more special.

For Sarah, Rosie and I, it represents creativity, connection and the joy of bringing three different worlds together.

For the women who wear it, we hope it becomes something even more personal. A favourite piece reached for time and time again. A familiar fragrance that instantly feels like home. An elevated everyday ritual that reminds you that the most beautiful things are not just seen, they are experienced.
