We would like to wish you a very happy International Women's Day.
Philosophy Australia is run, staffed, organised and powered by women. We have some amazing men who are an incredibly valued part of Team Philosophy, but overwhelmingly, we are an independent fashion label by women ... for women.
Our designer and owner, Ali Lennard, designs for women like you, and us! Australian and New Zealand women with busy lives who want to feel comfortable whilst looking great, and without a lot of complicated processes to keep them looking that way.
Our easy wear, easy care, wear anywhere design philosophy is a key part of this. We choose fabrics that are comfortable to wear, machine washable and have great durability. Our designs are cut for curves, with a little room to move, and crease resistance. Our timeless fashion styles are designed to mix and match and take you anywhere - and everywhere - you need to go, in stylish comfort.

We are made in Australia. Every single piece of Philosophy Australia clothing you add to your wardrobe is made in Sydney, and touched by less than 10 pairs of hands. We personally know every single person in our supply chain, and the majority of them are women, running their own small businesses, employing women.
Our boutique stockists are by far and away all women, running their own small businesses, and employing many other women too.
Our suppliers, including fabric, , and even our post bag supplier, are all small businesses, largely owned and run by women.
We are proud to be a sustainable Australian owned, designed and made slow fashion label, with ethical production values.

The theme for this year's UN Women Australia International Women's Day is Balance the Scales - for all women and girls.
Balance the Scales is a promise that every woman and girl – regardless of background or identity – should be safe, heard, and free to shape their own lives. Yet in 2026, too many across Australia and the world are still denied that fair go. Discriminatory laws, policies, and practices persist. Gender-based violence remains widespread, and structural barriers block too many from seeking or receiving justice.
These barriers are not inevitable. They are built – and they can be dismantled.
Equality is not about advantage for some; it's about dignity, safety, and fairness for all.
When women and girls stand equal, families are stronger, workplaces are fairer, communities thrive, and society becomes safer for everyone.
This International Women’s Day let's Balance the Scales together.
